831-375-2436Comments: John is a Vet with extroadinary compassion and doesn't think anything of coming in on weekends, evenings, holidays (whenever the need arises). I hate to think what we do if he ever though of retiring. His staff is also wonderful - very, very caring. No fancy stuff here - just down home good quality medical care. Wish my own doctor was a caring!!!

Sheriff's Dept. dogs. There is an adjacent vaccination and spay/neuter facility (bare bones/inexpensive). Animal Friends Pet Hotel (pleasant, as boarding kennels go) is next door/same owner.

(760) 323-1794Comments: Dr. Melinda Byers, (Desert Animal Hospital) here in Palm Springs
California loves and looks after most of the bassets in this area. She and
her husband (also a vet) take wonderful care of my Wils, and our rescue baby,
Maggie. They both are basset literate down to the finest detail, make house
calls, and consider each pet they treat, one of their own. Dr Byer's has been
known to call in the late hours of the evening because she was just thinking
about Wils and how he's doing. I thought this was kinda fun, and asked if she
did this with all her patients.... she replied, "of course".

Dr. Pete Keesling & Dr. Mike Switzer
San Martin Veterinary Hospital (24 hour emergency service)
12955 Monterey Rd
San Martin, CA 95046
408-683-4777This vet has a nice new puppy discount that provides the series of puppy shots and worming, a stool check, rabies vaccine, and 8 months of heart worm preventative for a reasonable, discounted price.
When our Sir Frederick sneeked out while we were bringing a new bed in the house for him, he got hit. Dr. Keesling met us at the clinic within 10 minutes. The first thing he said was, "Come on boy, we have to save you. I had one of you guys when I was a boy." Dr. Keesling worked with Sir Fred most of the night and Dr. Mike joined him. At 11 PM things were looking up, but sadly we lost him at 4:10 AM. But Dr. Mike and Dr. Pete were by his side making him comfortable and trying to keep him with us. We are grateful. The Casabs.

Bay Cities Pet Hospital
20447 Hawthorne Blvd.
Torrance, CA. 90503
(310) 371-6508These people have been taking care of my variety of dogs for over 20 years
now. They are the most wonderful vets I have ever had the pleasure of
meeting. They are so good, that my dogs will bang on the door to get in if
the door is not opened fast enough. After BoDean sees Dr. Rios, gets her
shot and lot of belly rubbing and sweet talking, she literally is BOUNCING
out the door. I can NOT give a higher recommendation. They have pulled us
through some pretty tough times. Their love and compassion for the
fur-babies added to the understanding of how much we love our furbabies makes
them the perfect vets. They are very reasonably priced ( I believe) but their
knowledge, care and compassion for the animals is more than worth it.

He does a wonderful job caring for our puppy, Daisy Mae. He has done an excellent job, teaching us how to care for her ears, and to help us prevent future back problems. Daisy loves to go see him, even though it usually ends in a shot! We strongly recommend him to anyone in the area.
Thank you,

comments: Over the course of 12 years, Dr. Nyholt has been our saviour many, many times. Dr. Dave has been there about 9 years, and has been just as valuable to us. Both of these doctors have went above and beyond the call of duty for not only our bassets, but all of our other feather and furbabies. And.... they are very nice people on top of it. We highly recommend both of them.
