Comments: Drs. Bob and Chuck have been helping our two bassets Max and Gretta for several years. Max has had two bouts of pancretitus (sp?) and recovered from near death. Both of these gentlemen have owned bassets fore years so their expertise is wonderful. In fact the entire staff dotes on our seniors. By the way Gretta has just lost a toe because of a malignancy. Dr. Bob caught this early enough that she didn't lose a foot.
Basset problems weve found are ears, eyes(cataracts) weight, and pancreatitis
For ear problems we've used a mix of 3/4parts alcohol and 1/4 part vineagar. Both dogs recognize the bottle but understand that after 2 or 3 days of ministration they feel alot better. Sometimes their symptoms appear as red eyes. Allergies abound for these hounds so do not ignore any symptoms.
In general, we've found that Bassets like most hounds, are sustained by love; food is just an ammendment (re M. Stewart) to the sustenance of their lives.

Comments: We came by this clinic by accident. When we rescued Chloe ("our" first Basset Hound). The Foster "Mother" went to Clinic. After adopting Chloe, we do not know any good Vets ourselves so we decided to keep Chloe there. Since, Chloe knows the staff and vice versa. The prices and/or fees are very reasonable.
There are about 4 Vets at the clinic. One of the vets, she seem to have a great deal of knowledge of(Basset)Hounds for their health problems etc. We cannot always get her. But the rest of the Vets, they treat Chloe and Ben ("our" second Basset we resued from the local Humane Society), just like any other pet.
Some of the Office Staff, they do like when Chloe and Ben do visit. They will pet them, if they have the time.

comments: This is the best vet. in the St. Cloud, Minnesota area. His unique ideas are just right for any Basset Hound. He and his clinic are also great lovers of basset hounds.
